The unique entertainment venue has played host to notable events and celebrities since it opened in 1937.
Now work is due to be carried out to enhance its existing facilities, boost capacity and elevate its status as a nationally renowned, multi-use entertainment space, thanks to our successful bid for £20m from the UK government.
Our appointed architecture practice RCKa will host a series of engagement activities to give local people, community groups and organisations the opportunity to get involved and hear about the proposed designs.
Two public engagement events will be held at the Tropicana in the evening on Friday 13 September and during the day on Saturday 14 September. There’s no need to pre-book, just turn up.
Meet the design team from RCKa, find out more about the improvement programme in Weston, and share memories, stories and experiences of the Tropicana to contribute to a project led by local artists.
More information and event timings will be published on our social media channels and website so keep your eyes peeled for updates.
The Tropicana is one of several high-profile sites across Weston’s town centre and seafront set to be improved. Other sites include Birnbeck Pier, Grove Park, Marine Lake and shops on the High Street.
Just last month, work was carried out on the existing toilet block in Grove Park as part of our proposals to demolish it and relocate the toilets back into the park in 2025.
More work to look at the drainage and wastewater flow within the park is due to take place next week.
