Storm damaged Victorian sea walls in Clevedon and Weston-super-Mare continue to be repaired and restored to improve their resilience as flood defences.

Our contractors have been abseiling down the sea wall near Anchor Head in Weston-super-Mare carrying out this specialist repair work.

They have been repairing cracks in the wall as well as replacing mortar and missing stone blocks, with work continuing this month.

Once finished there, they will be moving into Clevedon to repair the Victorian sea wall behind Marine Lake.

There, they will replace mortar, remove vegetation and repair coping stones.

We want this work to have minimal impact on people, including pedestrians and lake swimmers.

Some sections of the wall will need to be cordoned off, and the width of the lower promenade will need to be reduced while work is carried.

The steps down to the lower promenade will also need to be closed for a short time to allow the nearby section of wall to be repaired.

You can still use the lake during this time.

Thank you in advance for your patience while this essential work is carried out.

The work in Clevedon will last around three months in total, depending on weather conditions.

The total cost of the two projects is around £237,000.
