If your child is due to start or transfer school in September 2023 you can now apply through our website.
Choosing a school is an important decision so start looking now at those you’re interested in and attend any open days. Look on individual school’s websites to find information about open days.
If your child is moving from primary to secondary school next September, you have until Monday 31 October to apply.
For primary school places, applications must be made before Sunday 15 January next year.
This applies to all children starting school for the first time next September (those born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019), as well as children moving from infant to junior school.
Reminders will be issued where possible to parents and carers of children on our database who have not yet applied shortly before the deadline.
However, as parents and carers, it’s your responsibility to get the application in on time.
Up to three preferences can be submitted. Please put three, including your local school.
Make sure you submit your application before the deadline to avoid risking missing out on a preferred place.
Last year 99.4 per cent of the 2,017 children who started primary school in North Somerset were offered one of their top three choices, and 96.72 per cent received their first choice.
For secondary schools, 98.59 per cent of the 2,558 applicants in North Somerset were offered one of their top three choices and 92.53 per cent received their first choice.
