Events to get into the autumn groove

Music, art, food, culture and more are taking place this month to help ease us into autumn.

  • Visit the Scarecrow Festival, Uphill on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September. This is a charming community celebration with creatively crafted scarecrow displays throughout the village.
  • Experience art, live music, photography, workshops, activities and more during Portishead Arts Festival, from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 September, at venues around the town.
  • Pick up a delicious treat from local food and drink producers at the autumn edition of eat:Weston, from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 27 September, in the Italian Gardens, Weston-super-Mare. Next month, the eat:Clevedon festival also returns to Queens Square, Station Road and Old Church Road in Clevedon on Saturday 4 October.
  • Enjoy the best new music during a new one-day mini festival coming to Weston-super-Mare. Groove Village is taking place across three venues in Grove Village, around the High Street and Grove Park, on Saturday 27 September.
  • Want to improve your composting skills? Join the next volunteer training day on Thursday  2nd October in the beautiful surroundings of Yeo Valley Organic Gardens in Blagdon. Apply by Friday 26th September to secure your place. Learn more and apply.
  • Book lovers unite for Clevedon LitFest’s Celebration of the Book. The one-day celebration of books and book-related arts is on Saturday 11 October at Princes Hall, Princes Road, Clevedon.
  • Free ParkPlay sessions utilise the power of play to build happier, healthier communities every Saturday morning. Have fun taking part in a variety of games and activities in a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment. Visit Castle Batch Green Space in Worle, from 9.30am to 11am and Merlin Park, Portishead, from 10am to 11.30am every Saturday. ParkPlay is looking to expand into different areas.   • Are you involved in the care sector – either as a care worker, personal assistant, unpaid carer, support staff, care manager or part of a community group? Pop along to the free North Somerset Care Show taking place at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre on Wednesday 15 October from 10am to 4pm.
  • Want to be more active? Join the 5k Marine Parade Park Run in Weston. Held every Saturday at 9am, this free event encourages people to walk, jog, run or spectate. All you need to do is register ahead of the event
