Time is flying, and so are our bats! There’s just two months left to get involved in the North Somerset Bat Survey before the season wraps up in October.
We need volunteers like you to help us gather crucial data on local bat populations. By taking part, you'll be contributing directly to efforts to understand and protect North Somerset’s rich biodiversity.
Here’s how it works:
Visit the Bat Conservation Research Lab:
Choose your patch – Select a 1km-square survey area near you
Pick up your kit – Borrow a bat acoustic detector from a local collection centre
Start surveying – Place the detector in your chosen spot for six nights to record bat calls
Share your findings – Upload your recordings to our online portal and discover which bat species are nearby.
It’s easy, fun and a brilliant way to connect with your local wildlife.
Let’s protect our bats - one survey at a time!
