We’re urgently looking for volunteers to join our Junction 21 mentoring and advocacy project, which supports children and young people aged 10 to 21.
The programme matches children and young people with mentors who can listen, offer support and help them to work towards their goals and aspirations over the course of a year.
Men who could act as positive role models are particularly welcome to apply.
Someone might be referred to Junction 21 if they’re placed in our care or are leaving care, or if they’re at risk of offending or antisocial behaviour.
Volunteers must be able to commit a couple of hours a week for a minimum of 12 months.
In return, you’ll receive excellent on-going training, monthly group supervision, twice-yearly group events and regular relationship reviews.
Before starting, volunteers receive 24 hours of training, over eight three-hour sessions.
The next training course starts next Wednesday (18 September), from 6pm to 9pm at the Town Hall in Weston-super-Mare.
Mentors must be over 21 years old, have no criminal offences in the past five years, and be free of any substance use issues for five years.
Anyone interested can email junction21@n-somerset.gov.uk or call the team on 01275 888 360.
