Building strong and united communities

One of North Somerset’s greatest strengths lies in the people who call it home and now is the time to come together.

This is a message from Cllr Mike Bell, Leader of North Somerset Council.

“Whether you’ve lived here all your life or recently joined our community, each of us contributes to the rich mix of experiences, cultures and traditions that make our area such a great place to live.

We’re proud to play our part in supporting communities that are welcoming, inclusive and resilient. This means working together so that everyone feels valued, respected and able to take full advantage of the opportunities our area – and our country – has to offer.

Local councils like ours have a vital leadership role to play in bringing communities together – whether through the homes we build, the schools we support, the local economy we help grow, or the spaces we care for. Every one of these services contributes in some way to community cohesion. It’s about shaping the kind of place where everyone feels they belong.

But strong communities aren’t built by councils alone. They grow from the everyday actions of local people – neighbours helping each other, volunteers giving their time, schools welcoming families from all walks of life, and businesses offering opportunity to all. Together, we can create a place where everyone has the chance to thrive.

As your council, we’ll continue to champion equality, inclusion and respect – and we’ll work with local partners, faith groups, charities and residents to ensure North Somerset remains a safe, welcoming and connected community.

Let’s keep building that sense of pride and place that makes North Somerset not just where we live, but where we belong.”
