The schemes aim to reduce bus delays and increase reliability of services along key routes in North Somerset where buses are regularly delayed.
We’re carrying out this work as part of the government-funded Bus Service Improvement Plan, which aims to create a sustainable bus network across the region.
The proposed areas are:
- A38 (Churchill Junction and Lime Kiln roundabout)
- A370 and Weston-super-Mare (Backwell, A370 / B3440 slip road, Bristol Road / Walford Avenue / Queensway Worle, Worle High Street)
- A369 (Rownham Hill)
- Clevedon (B3133 Southern Way / Central Way roundabout, Ettlingen Way roundabout, Tickenham Road / Northern Way roundabout).
Early engagement with local people is now taking place to create plans for these 10 areas.
These infrastructure schemes will focus on saving journey minutes from each individual scheme, which will have a knock-on effect of time savings across the network, and reducing long-term bus service operating costs.
We want to create long-term, self-sustaining bus services that will be commercially viable in the future.
We’re working with the West of England Combined Authority to carry out this major investment programme.
