Planned engineering works on the rail line between Bristol and Taunton will no longer take place next week.

Network Rail has confirmed that the works planned between Bristol, Weston-super-Mare and Taunton won’t go ahead next week to allow passengers to continue making journeys by rail instead of replacement bus.

The works were originally planned from Sunday 18 to Friday 23 September.

Industrial action by trade unions planned for tomorrow (Thursday), Saturday (17 September), Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 September has also been called off and a normal timetable will operate on those days.

If you’re planning to visit London by train this week to pay your respects to Her Majesty The Queen, please plan ahead.

There is expected to be unprecedented travel demand in the capital and, although extra staff and services are being put on, it will be exceptionally busy.

Plan ahead using real-time travel information both before and throughout your journey, to take into account any short notice changes.

Visit the National Rail website to plan your journey.
