A jam-packed summer events calendar continues in North Somerset over the next few weeks…

  • Head down to Ashton Court this weekend for hot air balloons, fairground rides, entertainment and more, at Bristol International Balloon Fiesta. Now on until Sunday (14 August).
  • See stunning flowers and more at Weston-super-Mare Horticultural Society Flower Show, tomorrow (Saturday) at St Paul’s Church Hall in Walliscote Road
  • Popular food and drink festival eat:Portishead returns to the Marina, from 10am-4pm tomorrow (Saturday)
  • If you loved last weekend’s Sea Shanty and Folk Festival, you can see popular group The Steepholmers again tomorrow (Saturday). The group is playing a free concert at All Saints Church, in All Saints Road, Weston-super-Mare, from 3-4pm.
  • Take in live music, craft drinks and street food at the next Clevedon Twilight Market, tomorrow (Saturday), from 5-10pm in Queen’s Square
  • Outdoor live music sessions from diverse musicians and musical genres are coming to bandstands across Weston-super-Mare, as part of the Weston Bandstands Sessions. The next performance is tomorrow (Saturday), with Sister Cookie performing old sounds and new tricks of black music, from 6-7.30pm at Grove Park Bandstand. On Sunday (14 August) fingerstyle guitarist Holly Carter can be seen from 2-4pm at Marine Lake
  • Tickenham Flower Show takes place on Saturday 20 August, at Tickenham Village Field and Hall, with flowers, fruit and veg, art, wine making and more.
  • A celebration of arts, culture and creativity comes to Failand from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 August. More than 80 artists are displaying their work for the biennial North Somerset Arts Members' Exhibition, at Failand Village Hall. Meet the artists and see the wonderful art and crafts, which are for sale.
  • Lots of fun can be had at Clevedon Flower Show, at Salthouse Fields, on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August. In aid of Children's Hospice South West
  • Spectacular outdoor performances can be seen during Theatre Orchard's Whirligig Festival, on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 September in Weston. The celebrations start from 7pm on Friday evening with the act Saurus by acclaimed Dutch company Close-Act Theatre. Giant, prehistoric creatures will be stomping through the town. Shows will then run from noon to 6pm on Saturday in the Italian Gardens, along with walk-about acts and street performers
  • Heritage Open Days, England’s largest festival of history and culture, starts on Friday 9 September, with events around Weston-super-Mare. This year’s theme is ‘outstanding innovations’. Highlights include visiting historic family-run department store Walker and Ling (during normal opening hours) with its Lamson pneumatic cash tubes, as well as learning about the history of the Pride flag, invented 44 years ago. Hear more at Proud Bar, Boulevard, Weston-super-Mare, from 6pm on Saturday 17 September. A life-size model suffragette, named Hope, will also be on display in Weston Library from Monday 22 August to Monday 12 September. Hope is made from 32,327 Lego bricks.
  • More than 20 stallholders will be selling products at Weston Museum’s Autumn Market, from 10am-3pm on Saturday 10 September, at the Burlington Street museum
