Get set for more colourful street art

See colourful street art, hear a historic Compton organ, and enjoy tasty treats in North Somerset this month…

  • Pick up some tasty local products at eat:Clevedon, from 10am-4pm tomorrow (Saturday). Find a great range of local food and drink producers, entertainment and Punch and Judy shows, in Queens Square, Alexandra Road, Alexandra Gardens and Gardens Road.
  • Hear the historic Weston Odeon Compton Organ playing for perhaps the last time in the Odeon Cinema, from 2pm on Sunday (21 May). It’s one of only two working theatre organs in the country still performing in its original location. Michael Wooldridge will be playing, in the event organised by the Theatre Organ Club. Tickets £10 on the door.
  • More colour is coming to Weston-super-Mare when the urban paint festival Weston Wallz returns next week. The festival, a spin-off of Upfest, will see a diverse selection of local, national and international artists create large scale artworks on Weston’s walls from Wednesday 24 May to Sunday 4 June.   • Two shows are coming to Clevedon’s Theatre Shop this month. The Half by Danielle Ward is a hilarious, intelligent, and seriously moving play about being a woman in comedy. See it from 7.30pm on Saturday 27 May, at the Queen’s Square venue. Suitable for 16+. The following day, on Sunday 28 May, children are needed to help solve a fiendishly sneaky art heist. Brave Bold Drama is bringing The Munch Mission to the Theatre Shop at 2pm, suitable for ages 6+.
  • Get your skates on when Transend Skatepark returns to the Tropicana, on Weston’s seafront, from Monday 29 May. Various sessions available from 9am until 9pm until Friday 2 June.
  • A festival of poetry, prose, performance, art, music and fun comes to Clevedon from Wednesday 31 May to  Sunday 11 June. Clevedon Literary Festival celebrates accessibility, inclusion and connection. As part of the festival, Terry Pratchett fans can meet biographer Marc Burrows, author of The Magic of Terry Pratchett.   • Meet crime author Vaseem Khan, at Clevedon Library on Thursday 8 June. Vaseem has written two award-winning crime series set in India, the Baby Ganesh Agency series and the Malabar House historical crime novels. A reading group workshop takes place from 3.30-4.30pm, with a talk from 7-8pm. Pay what you can - recommended price £5 for workshop, £4 for talk.
  • Hear hip hop with a difference during an outdoor orchestral rendition of Dr Dre: 2001. The performance, at the Tropicana on Weston seafront on Friday 9 June, is by one of UK’s leading orchestras, accompanied by DJs, singers, and lyricists.   • Step back in time during a family fun day out at The Dig For Victory Show, at North Somerset Showground in Wraxall on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 June. The 1940s festival features military and civilian vehicles, re-enactment groups, local food, demonstrations, Forties singers, dance lessons, arena events, children’s fun and more.
