Two North Somerset organisations have received £30,000 each to help them lead on climate and nature initiatives in their communities.

Clevedon YMCA and Pill Community Foundation have been selected to join the latest Community Climate and Nature Action Project cohort.

The regional programme supports communities to take the lead on initiatives, putting local voices at the heart of decision‑making.

The project is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund’s Climate Action Fund and co-ordinated by Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership.

It is delivered in partnership with the Centre for Sustainable Energy, us, Bristol City Council, Bath & North East Somerset Council, South Gloucestershire Council, the University of the West of England and the West of England Combined Authority.

Over the next two years, both organisations will work closely with residents to co‑develop practical, locally driven plans that protect nature, cut carbon, and strengthen community resilience.

As well as the funding each group will also join workshops, mentoring and access specialist support to help turn community priorities into real action.

The programme builds on successful work already happening across the West of England, where community‑led projects have contributed to new jobs, improved green spaces, increased wildlife, skills training for young people and measurable carbon reductions.

We’re excited to see Clevedon YMCA and Pill Community Foundation take this next step...and we can’t wait to see the positive impact they’ll create in their communities .
