We want your views on proposed changes to tackle parking issues in Long Ashton and introducing a 20mph zone in Congresbury.
Tackling access issues in Long Ashton
There’s still time to comment on new proposals to address obstructive parking along the main route through the village.
We’re considering bringing in new parking restrictions for points along Long Ashton Road and Weston Road as cars parked at certain points cause an ongoing problem for larger vehicles.
Bottlenecks affect general traffic, delay bus services and pose potential access issues for other large public service vehicles, such as emergency services and waste collections.
Making changes at certain locations would aim to help improve general traffic flow and allow a clear route through for service vehicles to serve the community.
Potential locations for parking restrictions have been initially informed by feedback from local residents, community representatives as well as bus operators.
Fill in the consultation survey on our website before 5pm on Monday 24 March.
If you know someone who can’t access the survey online, either email bsip.engagement@n-somerset.gov.uk or call 01934 888 888 (and say 'public transport' when asked) to leave your details and receive a paper copy.
The proposed Long Ashton parking restrictions are among a range of initiatives being put in place and considered under the UK Government-funded Bus Service Improvement Plan.
20mph proposals for Congresbury
If you live in Congresbury now is the chance to give your views on proposals for a 20mph zone in the village.
The plans are aimed at improving pedestrian safety and supporting more active and sustainable forms of travel, such as walking and cycling.
The preliminary designs include:
- 20mph gateway signs at the High Street/Brinsea Road entrance to the village from Langford
- traffic calming speed cushions between the 20mph gateway signs and a raised zebra crossing near Stonewall Lane
- new 20mph speed limits on certain roads, including residential streets off Brinsea Road and the High Street, Broad Street, Kent Road, and Wrington Lane.
You have until midnight on Friday 11 April to view the proposals and have their say by completing the survey online.
Paper copies are also available from Congresbury Parish Council in The Old School Rooms, Station Road, and should be returned to the parish office by the survey closing date.
