Working parents will be able to get more funded childcare from next month but get your application in soon to avoid delays.

Early years funded entitlement is expanding from April and will be introduced in phases over the next couple of years until most working families with children under five are entitled to 30 hours of education and childcare.

From next month, eligible working parents and carers of two-year-olds can access 15 hours funded early education and childcare (over 38 weeks a year) from the term after their child's second birthday.

However, to begin receiving your entitlement from Monday 1 April, you’ll need to ensure you have a valid eligibility code by Sunday 31 March.

Apply as soon as possible to get your code from the Childcare Choices website, both for two-year-old funding and 30 hours funding for three- and four-year-olds.

You'll then need to take this code to your chosen childcare provider, along with your National Insurance Number and child's birth certificate or passport.

Parents on a low income, claiming Universal Credit or have a child with additional needs may be eligible for two-year-old funding. Check your eligibility on our website

If you miss the deadline you can still apply for a code by Saturday 31 August to begin receiving your funding from Sunday 1 September.
