We have been awarded £851,000 through the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Fund to support those without access to off-street parking or driveways to help them make the switch to electric vehicles.
We will now work to appoint a charge point operator to address gaps in the charging network across the area, including in rural and deprived areas where the private sector may not typically install chargers.
The funding will support our work to reduce carbon emissions as laid out in our Electric Vehicle Strategy.
Our officers are now working to identify suitable sites, including council car parks and on-street locations.
We are committed to supporting people to make the switch to electric vehicles in addition to improving public transport and active travel routes.
