Your phone company will get in touch with you when they want you to make the change, so wait to hear from them.
BT is rolling out the programme for its customers on a region-by-region basis from this summer.
However, certain groups won’t be switched yet, including people aged 70 and over, those with additional needs, people who only have a landline and not broadband, those with telecare alarms, and people with no mobile signal at home.
Other companies with their own networks, such as Virgin Media, plan to follow the same timescale and have completed the changeover by December 2025.
