Banish the winter blues with some light and colour in the coming weeks.
- Welcome in the new year at Hutton’s annual Wassail, from 6pm tomorrow (Saturday). The evening starts at 15a Moorcroft Road for mulled cider and the blessing of apple trees. A procession through the village ends at Walnut Barns with dancing, music, food and merriment.
- Hear talented musicians at Loves café in Weston-super-Mare as it marks Independent Venue Week. Sweet Baboo, the alter ego of Welsh musician and songwriter Stephen Black, can be seen on Friday 2 February, and Welsh guitarist Gwenifer Raymond will be showcasing her intricate technique on Saturday 3 February.
- Put your building skills to the test during building block workshop at Tyntesfield, in Wraxall. Let your imagination run wild or let the gothic house and grounds provide you with inspiration, during the workshops from Saturday 10 to Sunday 18 February. The workshop is free but normal admission charges apply.
- Stunning interactive, sensory installations will create a playful, multi-coloured trail around Weston-super-Mare in February. GLOW festival returns for five nights to illuminate Grove Park and sites around the town, from Tuesday 13 to Saturday 17 February. Tickets are selling fast but some later entry times are available.
- History will once again come alive at Weston Museum during the school holidays next month. The action packed History Week is back with both activity workshops and free events in the courtyard. Take part in a Roman workshop and re-enactment on Tuesday 13; an Anglo Saxon workshop and re-enactment on Wednesday 14; a Medieval workshop and re-enactment on Thursday 15; and a WWII re-enactment on Friday 16 February.
- Pre-historic fun is coming to Weston-super-Mare during the school holidays in February. Dinosaurs by the Beach is a seated, live-action event with games and activities. Discover fun facts about your favourite dinosaurs during two shows at 11am and 2pm on Thursday 15 February. Tickets available from Ticketsource.
- Spectacular fireworks will light up Weston’s seafront during The Grand Pier’s annual fireworks display, on Saturday 17 February.
