Proposed changes to parliamentary constituencies could mean that some villages in North Somerset are represented by a different MP in future.

The Boundary Commission for England is redrawing parliamentary constituency boundaries to rebalance the number of electors represented by each MP.

This means the number of constituencies in England would increase from 533 to 543.

Currently, North Somerset has two parliamentary constituencies: North Somerset and Weston-super-Mare.

Proposed changes would see the current constituency of Wells and Mendip Hills expanded so that it includes areas such as Banwell, Churchill, Burrington, Blagdon and Yatton.

This third and final consultation is open until Monday 5 December.

See the map, view the proposals and have your say on the Boundary Commission website.

This boundary review doesn’t affect our own council boundaries or any of the services we provide.

After this final consultation closes, the commission will analyse responses and form its final recommendations.

These will be submitted to Parliament by Saturday 1 July 2023.
