Help us make walking, wheeling or cycling short distances the first choice for people in North Somerset.

We want residents and businesses in the local area to choose active travel - meaning using physical activity - as their natural first choice for short and medium length journeys, or the first and last mile of longer journeys.

We want these journeys to be on a safe, connected network, and for active travel to be the most attractive option wherever possible.

This will help us work towards our goal of becoming carbon neutral target by 2030, as well as encouraging healthier lifestyles, encourage local economic development, and helping shape liveable neighbourhoods.

There are some great active travel routes in North Somerset already but more can be done.

Seven action plans have been created to outline how this will be achieved and we want to hear what you think.

The consultation is now open and you can have your say before 10am on Monday 20 February.

The seven action plans are:

• the 20mph action plan

• the Active Travel Network

• the First and Last Mile (to our public transport network for longer trips)

• Liveable neighbourhoods (making greener, safer, more attractive streets)

• Rural Lanes

• Safer Active Routes to School

• Transport Behaviour Change.

These action plans aim to deliver our active travel strategy, which we adopted the in 2021.

In addition to this consultation, if you have ideas of how to make active travel more attractive in your local community, contact your town or parish council or the North Somerset councillor for your ward area.

You can also add your ideas about where active travel improvements should be made to an interactive online map.

Delivering all the proposals will be subject to engagement and securing necessary funding and resources.
