Big improvements are coming to popular Clevedon Library which will enable it to stay in its current location for at least another decade.

The well-used library, in Old Church Road, will be transformed after we were awarded a grant of £215,900 by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports, delivered by Arts Council England.

Along with match-funding of £18,342 and in-kind contributions from us, the improvements will include:

  • creating a new multi-purpose meeting area for community groups and library customers
  • installing self-service technology to enable customers to use the library outside staffed opening hours
  • reducing the building’s carbon footprint with improvements to the heating, lighting, insulation and roof
  • making the library building more accessible for people with disabilities
  • upgrading the toilets.

All these improvements will help the library develop as an active hub for the community, creating a more flexible library space and facilities for businesses, partners and groups to meet.

Work is due to start in the summer.
