A new bus route is coming to North Somerset to replace services being cut by commercial operators – and you can travel on it for free during its first week.

We’ve awarded a new supported bus contract for Weston-super-Mare in response to cuts announced last month by commercial operators.

From Monday 25 April, Stagecoach West will operate the new number 50 service between West Wick and Hutton.

It will run hourly from early morning until early evening, Monday to Saturday, in both directions – calling at Worle, Worlebury, Grove Park, Weston town centre, Uphill, Weston General Hospital, and Bleadon.

An all-day WestonRider ticket will cost £2.70, and it can also be used with other bus operators.

We’re offering free travel on the service for the first week to encourage residents to give it a go and get back on the bus,

It will run from 7am to 7.45pm and cover the areas served by the 2, 4, 5 and 6 routes, which are being withdrawn by First Bus on Sunday 24 April.

The number 50 will run initially for 18 months, with an option to extend depending on how popular it is.

So if bus travel is important to you, need to use it or lose it.
