Just five days remain to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme.

If you’re an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, you and your family can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK.

The deadline to apply is Wednesday 30 June.

There is concern from councils across the region that the pandemic may have prevented people from getting help to apply if they needed it, that older EU nationals who have lived here most of their lives may not be aware they need to apply, or that parents may not know they need to apply for their children.

This week you might spot digital ad vans driving around the area, hear radio ads on community radio stations, see posts on social media, or posters and translated postcards while out and about shopping.

The activity is being funded by Avon and Somerset Local Resilience Forum.

The EU Settlement Scheme means you can continue to work, study and access free healthcare and other benefits after the deadline.

If your application is successful, you’ll get either settled or pre-settled status.

You may be able to stay in the UK without applying, for example if you’re an Irish citizen or already have indefinite leave to remain.

Apply on the government’s website to see if you meet the criteria.

Usually you must have started living in the UK by 31 December 2020.

Citizens Advice North Somerset can help you with your application. Call them on 0808 278 7973 or email advice@nscab.org.uk
