Spring will soon be here so banish any winter blues with theatre, music, fun and more…

  • Play bingo like never before in a fast-paced, fun-filled club night environment. Bingo Lingo returns to the Tropicana, in Weston-super-Mare for a party tomorrow (Saturday). Last few tickets from Skiddle.
  • Three libraries will be celebrating World Book Day next week with some special events based on Tom Percival’s new book for pre-schoolers, Billy’s Bravery. These will take place between 10.30am and 11.30am in Clevedon on Monday (27 February); at the Campus in Weston-super-Mare on Tuesday (28 February); and in Portishead on Thursday (2 March). To book a place, contact one of the three libraries. Children who have not received a £1 World Book Day token at school will be able to collect a free book from their local library when they borrow books on their library card. We hope stock will be delivered to libraries from Monday 6 March and will be available until Friday 31 March, or until stocks last. Find out more about library events on our website.
  • Banish the winter darkness with a stream of light, laughter and loud music during Blagdon Lantern Parade, from 5pm to 8pm on Saturday 4 March. The parade starts at the New Inn pub and ends at the Village Club for drinks and hot food. Lanterns are hand created from willow and paper. After the parade they are taken home to be broken up and reused where possible. Lanterns are never released into the sky.
  • Sample a wide range of local beers and ciders at Wrington Beer Festival, on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 March at Wrington Memorial Hall. The Saturday evening party night features local band Sleeping Dogs followed by resident DJ Keef.
  • Talented gardening enthusiasts, bakers and artists will be showcasing their wares at Portishead Spring Show, on Saturday 11 March, to celebrate the start of spring. Tea, coffee and light lunches served. Visit from 12.30pm to 4.30pm at the Folk Hall, in the High Street. Admission 50p, with free admission for children.
  • Hear the best of British ska and 2 Tone tracks when Bad Manners perform at the Tropicana, on Saturday 18 March. Tickets from SeeTickets.
