We’d love to see local communities in North Somerset get together to join in the celebrations and now is the time to apply for a road closure if you’re planning a street party.
The King will be crowned during a service at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May and over the weekend there will be opportunities for people to come together and celebrate.
Neighbours and communities are invited to share food and fun together during the Coronation Big Lunch on Sunday 7 May.
If you want to organise a road closure for this event, please get your application to us as soon as you can and no later than Friday 10 March.
There’s no fee for road closures during the coronation weekend.
On Monday 8 May, the day of the extra bank holiday, people are encouraged to take part in The Big Help Out, by volunteering and joining in work to support their local areas.
Search for local volunteering activities on the Voluntary Action North Somerset website.
The coronation is both a symbolic, religious ceremony and the physical act of placing a crown on a monarch’s head.
It formalises the monarch’s role as the head of the Church of England and marks the transfer of their title and powers.
