You can now access our services more quickly and easily, thanks to a major update to the North Somerset Council mobile app launched this month.

Want to report a pothole, fallen tree or find out when your next recycling collection is? You can do it all on the app.

The refreshed app introduces a modern new design alongside a range of practical features aimed at making everyday tasks – from managing waste collections to reporting local issues – simpler and more intuitive.

Building on the success of the original app, which focused primarily on recycling and waste services, the latest update significantly broadens its scope. The redesigned layout offers improved usability, helping residents find the services they need with just a few taps.

One of the most popular features of the app has been enhanced with personalised waste collection reminders. Once registered, users can view upcoming recycling and waste collection dates tailored to their address, complete with images of the correct containers to ensure the right bins are put out on the right day.

A standout new addition is an AI-powered recycling tool. Residents can take a photo of an item they’re unsure about and the app will scan the image, identify the object and explain exactly how and where it should be disposed of.

The updated app also makes it easier for residents to have their say. A new section provides direct links to our latest public consultations, allowing people to share their views quickly on local plans, proposals and priorities.

For those visiting recycling centres, the app now offers quick access to the Household Waste and Recycling Centre (HWRC) booking system. Bookings for the Weston-super-Mare site are already live, with Portishead and Backwell sites set to follow from Monday 2 March.

Residents can also use the app to report common issues in their area, including potholes and tree problems, or to sign up for services such as garden waste collections, via links to the council’s most-used online reporting tools.

Our app is free to download from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Residents who already have the app installed can update to the latest version via their App store.
