Events with a bang this month

As the nights draw in, lots of events will be lighting up the night sky in the next few weeks.

  • Hear the roar of motorbikes when the biggest off-road motorsport event returns this weekend. Weston Beach Race is on until Sunday (23 October).
  • In celebration of Black History Month, Two Man Ting can be seen at the Tithe Barn, in Church Lane, Nailsea tomorrow (Saturday). Two Man Ting use guitar, live loops and percussion to create a full band sound. The concert is free to attend but you’ll need to register on the Eventbrite website first.
  • A programme of workshops, talks and films about how communities can make a difference takes place next week. Green Futures, programmed by climate activist Shandin Rickard-Hughes and Culture Weston, takes place in venues across Weston-super-Mare. See the listings on the Culture Weston website.
  • Keynote speakers, poetry readings and music will be at a Holocaust Memorial event in Clevedon on Friday 28 October. Professor Tony Kushner and Dr Aimee Bunting will be talking about Britain and the Holocaust – The Connections at the event, from 7.30pm at St Andrews Centre, Old Church Road, Clevedon.   • Pick up a tasty treat when the popular eat:Festival returns to Clevedon on Saturday 29 October. eat:Clevedon is open from 10am to 4pm in Queens Square and Alexandra Road.
  • See spectacular illuminated floats, marching bands, walking entertainers and more when Weston Carnival returns on Friday 11 November after being postponed for the last two years.
  • Strictly Come Dancing fans can see local people try to jive and salsa their way to success during a charity event on Saturday 12 November. Strictly Fun Dancing is at the Winter Gardens, in Weston-super-Mare, in aid of Weston Hospicecare.

  • Puxton Park, Hewish. From 5.30pm with display from 7pm. Includes park admission.

Friday 18 November

  • Grand Pier Fireworks at Sea. Grand Pier, Weston-super-Mare. From 6.30pm
