What should our priorities be?

Help shape our priorities for North Somerset over the next four years.

We’ve launched the second round of formal consultation on our draft plan and budget so there’s another chance to have your say if you haven’t already.

In the autumn we spoke to local people about the over-arching strategic plan and budget which will drive our council priorities over the coming years.

Hundreds of people and local groups got involved in this extensive period of engagement, at in-person events and online.

Following feedback, we’ve reshaped the draft plan and budget to reflect the views that people shared.

The proposed plan focuses on four ambitions:

  • children and young people are cared for, safe, supported, and are given equality of opportunity to thrive
  • communities are caring, healthy and safe, where people help each other to live well
  • towns and villages are thriving and sustainable places to live, work and visit
  • we deliver consistently good services and value for money to support the community.

This second round of formal consultation gives you another chance to have your say on these proposals.

Visit our website and take part in the consultation by 5pm on Wednesday 10 January.

There’s also still chance to speak to our Executive members face-to-face.

Sessions on-board the mobile library are due to take place next week, giving you the chance to talk through ideas and issues, and get your feedback on what our priorities should be.

They are currently planned at the following locations, but please check our Facebook and X pages for confirmation beforehand:

  • Backwell Rodney Road, on Monday (18 December), from 2.30pm-3.30pm
  • Banwell car park (opposite the primary school), on Thursday 21 December, from 3.30pm-4.30pm.

Last week’s Executive meeting, where councillors considered the extent of savings needed on next year’s budget, can be watched back on our YouTube channel.

Final proposed drafts of the plan and budget will be considered by councillors in the new year.
