More travel improvements – including a 20mph speed limit - are coming to Yatton to help make it easier for people to move around the village on foot and wheels.

The works will connect the new North End development to Yatton village, providing a safe route for walking and wheeling and so help people avoid unnecessary trips in vehicles, to cut carbon emissions.

We want to encourage more people to travel actively for short trips because it’s better for our health and the environment than using a car.

The improvements are being delivered in phases. The first phase was completed this summer and the second is scheduled for next spring.

This will include:

  • introducing a 20mph speed limit throughout most of the village
  • extending the 30mph limit on North End Road to take account of the extended village boundary
  • installing raised humps and speed cushions on some roads to assist the 20mph speed limit
  • providing speed cushions on Stowey Road and Mendip Road, as requested during the previous public consultation, with two junction priority changes on Stowey Road. We’re currently consulting on the speed cushions on Stowey Road and Mendip Road – so get involved and have your say on our website
  • creating a new zebra crossing near the newsagents and raising the one near the Co-op
  • removing the bus stop and shelter near the newsagents.
