If your child was born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022 they will be due to start reception year in September 2026.
There are many factors to take into consideration when choosing the right school, so take the opportunity to visit those you’re considering.
If your child is in year 2 at an infant school, or year 4 at a first school, you must also make an application for them to transfer to the next phase.

The deadline to apply for those starting school in reception for the first time, transferring from infant to junior school, or transferring from first to middle school is 11.59pm on Thursday 15 January 2026.
You can name up to three preferences and apply for schools both within and outside North Somerset.
