Spread over three years, this Government investment aims to strengthen the bus network that so many residents rely on every day.
Each year, £3 million will go directly into community-focused bus services and promotional fares. This helps safeguard essential routes that connect people to school, work, healthcare, shops, and the wider community – keeping North Somerset moving.
A further £1.3 million each year is also ringfenced for improving travel infrastructure. This could include better bus stops, priority measures and upgrades that make public transport smoother and more convenient for everyone.
As the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) funding winds down, the Bus Grant will help us sustain support for bus services across North Somerset.
The grant sits alongside a major £43 million investment for the West of England Combined Authority. We will continue working in partnership with the authority to keep improving bus travel across the region.
Over the coming months, we will review how best to use this funding to support local services and deliver the most benefit to North Somerset residents.
