While legal restrictions ended in February, we must still take steps to protect ourselves and those around us because the risk of complications from infection is still very real and very serious.
We are learning to live with Covid but we need to remember that the virus is not going away.
The guidance up until the end of March is still very clear – if you have symptoms, you should get a PCR test.
If you test positive for Covid, you should avoid meeting people at higher risk from Covid for 10 full days.
You should stay at home while you're infectious to others, which can be up to 10 days from when your symptoms start.
You can do a rapid lateral flow test from five days after your symptoms started (or the day you had the test if you do not have symptoms) and another the next day.
If both tests are negative and you do not have a high temperature, you're less likely to pass Covid onto others and you can go back to your normal routine.
If your test result is positive you can carry on doing rapid lateral flow tests every day until you get two negative test results in a row.
Guidance is still changing regularly though, so keep an eye on the NHS website - coronavirus webpage to stay up-to-date.
The best way to protect yourself from Covid is to get vaccinated.
Even one dose is better than none, so please book an appointment as soon as you can.
