The profile and importance of care workers reached new heights during the coronavirus crisis as people saw the valuable work they carried out.

Day-to-day acts of compassion and kindness by care and support workers proved how vital they are.

Due to our ageing population, there will always be demand for people who can help others stay as independent as possible, whether in their own homes or care homes.

Could you be one of them?

More care workers are urgently needed in North Somerset to help some of our most vulnerable residents through this winter and beyond.

Working in health and care involves much more than you might expect.

It’s not just about assisting people with their daily routines - you’ll be helping them get the most out of each day.

Work can include personal care, assisting with domestic jobs in the home, getting people involved in activities, helping people access services in their community or liaising with a care home resident’s family.

Other roles within care homes include nurses, healthcare assistants, support workers and domestic assistance.

Skills needed are being able to listen, empathise and communicate, as well as patience, flexibility and resilience.

Employers provide essential training and offer support to help you gain recognised work-based qualifications.

Different roles are currently available across North Somerset including temporary, permanent, full or part-time positions.

So whether you’re a student, looking for flexible hours to fit around family commitments, or thinking about a career change – you could do something extraordinary this winter and be Proud To Care.
