Drivers of older and more polluting vehicles will soon be charged to enter Bristol city centre.

Bristol's Clean Air Zone comes into effect on Monday 28 November.

A Clean Air Zone aims to cut air pollution, of which road traffic is a major source.

Restricting the highest polluting vehicles, encouraging the use of cleaner vehicles, and encouraging people to walk, cycle or use public transport, will reduce public exposure to nitrogen dioxide.

No vehicles are banned in Bristol’s Clean Air Zone, but older and more polluting vehicles will have to pay a daily charge to drive in the zone.

Find out more about it, including a map and how to check if your vehicle will be charged, on the Bristol City Council website.

You must pay within six days of entering the zone. You only need to pay the charge once a day.

Pay online on the government website (or over the phone by calling 0300 029 8888.
