Would a friendly telephone call help you through your day?

We fund a wellbeing and social care telephone check-in service that's available free to people who live in North Somerset to make sure they are safe and well.

The Wellness Service operates seven days a week, whether you need multiple calls a day or just once a week to check everything is okay.

These calls could help someone maintain their independence in the community, reduce social isolation, signpost to other community resources, groups, and services, or help people explore the benefits of Technology Enabled Care.

The service is for people who live in North Somerset and are able to talk on the phone, make a video call or respond to a text message, and who might be in one of these situations:

  • have recently returned from hospital
  • are caring for someone else
  • are recently bereaved
  • have physical or minor mental health conditions that are at risk of deterioration (this doesn't include people who have severe and enduring mental health conditions).

All referrals are welcome, whether from the community, people who want to access the service themselves or who are referred by professionals.

We'll customise the service to meet your goals, taking into account the level of contact and support available.

Make a referral through the Access Your Care’s website or by calling 01275 874 861.

Free health and wellbeing events in Portishead

Free events to boost health and happiness will be running in Portishead for local residents.

Volunteer-run, non-profit organisation Walnut Grove Wellbeing is hosting activities to support the health and wellbeing of the Portishead community and beyond.

A variety of courses, including stroke rehabilitation and falls prevention, are taking place at Walnut Grove Studio in Papermill Gardens.

We’re funding these sessions thanks to money from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Find details of classes on the Better Health North Somerset website.
