Organisations across North Somerset are benefitting from a share of £200,000 to help make a real difference to people’s lives in local communities.

Local voluntary, community and social enterprise groups were invited to apply for a share of the funding in February, as part of our allocation from the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

More than 50 applications were received and 17 organisations have now been given funding.

The chosen projects will strengthen social fabric within North Somerset and help foster a sense of local belonging and community cohesion, while also helping to build resilient neighbourhoods and increase life chances for residents.

Projects encompass local arts, cultural heritage and creative activities, social action projects, infrastructure support, community engagement, and local regeneration.

The successful organisations and their projects are:
•    Clevedon Town Association Football Club - Seasiders 150 Years Heritage Mural Project
•    Curzon Clevedon Community Centre for the Arts - Creative Events for Inter-generational Cohesion
•    Friends of Grove Park - Friends of Grove Park Volunteer Engagement and Development

A second round of community grants funding will open early next year so look out for details.

This money is coming from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, a central pillar of the government’s Levelling Up agenda which is providing £2.6bn for local investment by March 2025

The fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK by investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
