Top-up covid vaccinations are available this spring for people who are at increased risk of serious illness from the virus.

The NHS is inviting eligible people living across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire to have the top-up.

This includes those aged 75 and over (by Sunday 30 June this year), residents of care homes for older adults, and those aged six months and over with a weakened immune system.

Covid can still be very dangerous and even life-threatening to those with a weakened immune system.

Protection can fade over time and the virus can also change so, if you are at higher risk of severe illness, it’s important to top up your protection.

The vaccine has saved countless lives, prevented thousands from needing to go to hospital, and helped us to live with the virus.

Spring vaccinations start from Monday (22 April) and will be available until Sunday 30 June.

Once invited, you can book in a number of ways:

  • download the NHS app and make an appointment
  • use the online national booking service
  • call 119 for free if you can’t get online (translators are available).

Vaccinations can take place in a GP clinic, your local pharmacy or at a community vaccination clinic.

If you believe you should be eligible for a vaccine but do not get invited, you can check online or self-declare through the national booking service.
