Could you help children tap into a world of imagination and storytelling?

Volunteers are needed across our libraries to help run this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.

The annual challenge is designed for children aged four to 11 to encourage them to continue reading throughout the long summer holidays and prevent the dip in literacy that may occur.

This year’s theme is Marvelous Makers, about crafts and creative arts.

Volunteers are needed between Saturday 6 July and Saturday 14 September to talk to children about the books they’ve read, help them choose books, and hand out rewards.

Anyone aged 14 and over can apply and flexible sessions are available at libraries across the area, including selected stops on the mobile library.

Full training is provided and no previous experience is necessary.

Apply online by Monday 10 June or contact the team on 01275 888 864 for a paper application.
