Light a candle to remember those we’ve lost
Light a candle next month to remember the people we’ve lost in the past year.
North Somerset lost its first resident to coronavirus on 14 March 2020. Since then, a further 334 people in the area have died from the disease.
Anyone who has lost a friend or relative in the past year for whatever reason has not been able to mourn in the usual way due to continued coronavirus restrictions.
Therefore, North Somerset Council is calling on residents to light a candle at 7pm on Sunday 14 March and put it in their window.
This symbolic gesture will provide a moment of quiet reflection for people to remember all those who are no longer with us and hope for brighter days ahead.
You can also share a picture of your candle on social media using #NSTogether to create a virtual moment of remembrance.
